Here is the front of the Iron Warrior Techmarine I converted and painted. Eighteen colours in total, 2 hours painting time. (Not including drying time between washes.)
Oh wow, that colour scheme's fantastic! I like the history behind the Iron Hands (even though I paint Ultramarines myself: blame it on 11-year-old me!). The detail you've put into the model is fabulous!
Thank you for the coments. Saintbomber, I chose the "snow" look because I wanted to keep the base simple. I have also seen contests where minis have either won or lost due to the bases.
Peterabo, the conversion involved a 5th Ed WHFB Chaos Knight arm with a 2nd Ed 40K bolt pistol. The only Imperial markings were Adeptus Mechanicus, so the conversion was very simple.
Very good paint job. I got a can of Army Painter wash, and wasnt happy with my result. It was a Spacemarine Tech before? What pieces did you change?. Iron Within, Iron Without.
Boy, those washes sure are magic. I just got a couple to try not long ago m'self. The metals look fantastic. You might want to turn up the contrast on the base though. I've won and lost 'best of show' based on the quality of bases before, and I'd hate to see that happen to others.
